For online lessons, Zoom and Skype work best. No additional equipment is required; just make sure you have a quiet, comfortable space and, as much as possible, avoid headphones.
Online lessons are just as effective as in-person lessons. The tools and methods are adapted, because simultaneity isn’t possible online: if I play a vocalise, you won’t be able to sing at the same time as the piano; instead, you’ll have to sing immediately afterwards.

45 minutes or an hour?
Unless you’re working on a project with a specific structure, a lesson is broken up into warm-up periods, specific vocal exercises, and repertoire work.
Sixty minute lessons are ideal; it’s the format I find most effective to give you the flexibility to delve more deeply into certain topics while still allowing us time to work on more general issues.
That said, you can still work well in 45 minutes, but if we spend more time on vocalises, we’ll have less time to work on a song, or if your voice needs more warming up, we’ll spend less on vocalises, and so on. That said, if you don’t have the time or budget for a 60-minute class, definitely feel free to go for the 45-minute option.
I also offer lessons and workshops in a variety of settings, including CEGEPs (I run singing and vocal technique workshops at the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal I and community organizations. Contact me for more information.
Group rates: determined on request.
